Today I threw Becky a baby shower. It went very well and I'm quite proud of myself. Things were pretty much all ready when the guests started arriving. We played games that had everyone giggling. I had enough food and drinks The simple decorations I bought looked nice. And Becky enjoyed herself and got very nice gifts. Woo! Go me!

This evening I got to talk to Chelley for a little bit. That was nice. Unfortunately we got cut off and I wasn't able to get back through to her.
I haven't posted in a few days, so I thought I'd catch everyone up on my ultra-fascinating existence.

I got a very late start to work on Friday. On my way in I witnessed an accident and had to wait for police to arrive. Fortunately, no one was badly injured. The woman who caused the crash had some chest pain, but I think it was mainly from the impact of the airbag. She was an elderly Asian lady who didn't speak much English, so it was hard to be sure exactly what was hurting her. The woman in the other car went up on two wheels and spun around, so I'd been worried that she was hurt - especially when she wasn't getting out of her car. She was fine, though. She stayed in her car because she was not wearing any trousers.

Um... I don't really remember... At some point I took Mer to her boyfriend's house. She was gone most of the day because she spent the night at her friend Robyn's on Friday. James finished clearing out the extra bedroom for her to move into. I chatted with Gina on AIM until

Drove Mer back to Harpers Ferry to pick up the purse and camera she left at her BF's. Moved her stuff into the upstairs bedroom. Did some laundry. Um... Went to Outback for a very late dinner. Mer went to the movies with Robyn and spent the night at her house again. Robyn was sad because her BF broke up with her Saturday night, and then she'd sprained her elbow on Sunday morning, so Mer wanted to be with her in her time of need. Non-stop drama around here.

Helped James set up his bedframe in Mer's old room. He'll move down there as soon as he can buy a mattress. Probably sometime around the end of May, when our lease is up. /snark Did more laundry. Grocery shopped. Watched part of a special on Houdini. Went to dinner at IHOP, where we discussed Mer's BF and her impending dump of him. (YAY!) Also discussed was Mer's great desire to move far, far away from here because her only 'real' friend is Robyn, and everyone judges her based on the reputation she earned back when we lived in Leesburg, and now Matt, the guy she wants to date, says he wants to get to know her better, but she should not tell anyone because he doesn't want people to talk about them. James told her to tell Matt to 'go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut'. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but I assume he is of the same opinion that I am - Matt can stick it. As I mentioned before, drama-rama.

Also today, Becky had the ultrasound to determine the sex of her babies. She is having two little girls. Sadly, she also had some bad news. 'Baby A' is looking fine and healthy, but 'Baby B' seems to have fluid on her brain. The doctor told Becky that this usually indicates spina bifida. It's a bit perplexing because Becky just had a screen done for that and it came back negative. She goes to some sort of specialist tomorrow to find out more. So, you praying types, please keep Becky, Manny and their little ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Tomorrow: I have a dental appt. and then it's back to work. Blech.

That's all for now. *huggles flist*

...and a roiben in a sense & sensibility.
Get your own Twelve Days:

That TWO Jason Isaacs! Woo!

Thank you to everyone who has loaded my Christmas stocking with lovely presents! They made me smile!

I found a Christmas song generator online. This gist of it is you type in a noun and it plugs the noun into a verse from a Christmas song. Pretty simplistic really. Anyway, because I am incredibly juvenile, I typed in 'penis'. This was the verse that popped up.

"There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found. For when the placed it on his penis he began to dance around."

I giggled like a pre-pubescent. Good old Frosty and his Viagra hat.

Something I found less amusing - I had ordered a Nizlopi CD. It arrived today. The case was right, but the CD wasn't. *sigh* The CD inside only had the JCB video on it, there were no songs. And Overstock doesn't have any more of this CD in stock, so I have to get a refund instead of an exchange. Now I've got to figure out where else I can acquire the CD. I was really excited about it, too. *pouts*

I scared the heck out of Becky driving home from work today. Do you ever have those days where you just can't seem to pay proper attention to the road? That was me this evening. I nearly rear-ended someone and then later I started to drive through a red light. Becky's a nervous little person (I can say that, as she's one of the only people I know who is shorter than me) and she's pregnant, so she was really happy to get out of the car when we got to her place. Fortunately I didn't actually cause any damage, and Becky was pretty good humored about the whole thing - you know, once she released the door handle from her vice-like grip. She did say that she'd drive tomorrow. *snicker*

Today I come bearing good news, although it's about someone none of you know. I talk a lot about my friends Becky and Manny. They've been going through IVF to try to get pregnant. The first round, Becky got pregnant but lost the baby almost immediately. They recently completed the second cycle and Becky is pregnant, with much better levels this time around! She had her confirmation sonogram yesterday, and its TWINS! The doctor did say that sometimes one of the fetuses will stop growing, but things look really good so far. We're calling them Thing 1 and Thing 2, and debating how long it will take before Becky is too big to hold herself upright. She's only 5 ft. tall and about 120 lbs., so two babies on her frame will be an interesting thing to see. Yay for Becky and Manny!

It's getting ready to storm here. The sky's gotten dark and the wind is blowing, and all I want to do is go outside and stand on the loading dock at the back of my office building to feel the breeze. I love storms. I love listening to the rumble of the thunder. I love love watching lightning shoot across the sky. I love the sound of rain on the roof. I just love storms.

It's just started. The rain is drumming softly on my window and there is a steady roll of thunder. No loud cracks so far, just lovely background noise. Every once in awhile there's a flash of light. It's odd how calming it is. I love this. Nature is amazing.

Ok, I really had not intended for this post to be an ode to Mother Nature, it just sort of happened. I know Pud is thinking that I'm nuts, storms don't hold the same appeal to her AT ALL. I hope you've escaped the rain, Cyn, and that it's just my part of the state being soaked.

Hee! The first loud thunder clap just sounded, and Becky came over to my office and jokingly asked if I was awake. I have to say, it's nice to work with someone you've been friends with for half your life (almost). In general, I'm a pretty fortunate person.
