I'm tired, achy tonight. I'll probably be around YIM, but if you tolerance for self-indulgent whining is low you might not want to chat with me. I'll try to tag in docs, but inspiration and energy stores are on 'E'.

I really hope you aren't who I think you are. That would be seriously disappointing.

And no, I'm not saying who. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Okay, it's been forever since I've done a real update, so I'll try to catch up on the important moments in the last - what? - two months or so? *shrugs* A long time at any rate. My life is pretty routine anyway, so it won't take that long.

The excitement that is my life )

Meredith didn't have to be at school until 9:20 this morning because she didn't have an exam first block and she was only going to be at school until 11:20, so she drove me into work and used the car to get to and from school. But... when I went inside the office I found out that a power grid was down and not expected to be back up until the afternoon, so everyone was going home. Fortunately one of my co-workers lives nearby and offered me a ride.

I could have done productive things around the house, but instead I finished a scene with Sharlene and took a nap. I'm okay with that. I feel better rested than I have in quite some time.

I am still working on my drabble requests, but I hope to have them up this weekend. [livejournal.com profile] elle_blessing posted two that I requested from her today. One is an adorable Katie Bell/Reese Ashley Hogwarts era scene and the other is a wonderfully heated Gwen Jones/Bishop Rasciale drabble. For those of you who aren't aware, Reese and Bishop are OCs from [livejournal.com profile] caliga_rpg. Go read! Even if you don't follow the rpg, the drabbles are awesome. :D

I'm watching Last of the Mohicans right now. Elle and I were discussing the soundtrack the other day. It really is perfect, very moving. I'm ridiculously fond of the younger sister. Her weakness draws me in. Her death scene is so beautiful, which sounds horribly morbid, but it is. It's so simple and powerful and it gets me every time that Mogwa, evil as he is, tries to stop her. I love this movie.
I'm going to try to remember to post answers to my lyric meme tonight, so if you want to guess go and do it now! http://mugglechump.livejournal.com/192974.html#cutid1 :D

I'm tired and my allergies are still messing with me. I spent all day yesterday miserable with them. Got nothing accomplished around the house and no errands run. Blergh. I need to move to the desert or something.

I submitted my audition for the Caliga character I mentioned. Fingers crossed that he gets approved, people! He's an oddity for me. I don't usually go for OCs, but I like him. Eep! If he's accepted, I'll have to make a new Caliga characters icon.

Am currently waiting for Meredith to finish getting ready for school - which started half an hour ago.

Want to go back to bed and make my headache go away, except it probably wouldn't. I think my headache is because I'm not breathing well enough while I sleep because of the allergies stuffing me up. Would explain why I'm so flippin' tired, too. So, more sleep would probably not help, but it's SO tempting.

rambleramblerambleramble

I have a number of planned scenes, and a number of scenes in progress, and yet still feel like I'm not accomplishing anything. I did finish one scene yesterday that will post today. Woo hoo!

I had a good time at the engagement party I went to on Sunday. Tracey and Steve (Mer's aunt and her BF) have been dating for nearly nine years and finally decided to get married. June of 2009 is the plan. It was at Sherri's house (Mer's other aunt), which is friggin' huge and beautiful. She made these adorable chocolate covered strawberries. Some were totally coated in white chocolate - like a wedding dress - and some were coated with white, then strategically coated with milk chocolate - like a shirt and jacket - with little milk chocolate dots for buttons down the 'shirt'. Adorable. Wish I had a picture. Tasty, too. I devoured a couple 'grooms'.
I made pirate panty icons and a few text icons. Woo hoo!

Iconses! )

Other items of note (or that I feel like sharing, noteworthy or not):

- Today is my 11th wedding anniversary. Obviously didn't celebrate it, as James and I are separated.
- Went to see Iron Man with Mom, Kenny, James, and Mer. Enjoyed it, although I'm not as rapturous over it as a lot of people.
- Elephants have moved in above me. Graceless elephants. Wish they would learn how to walk without shaking the freaking building. Seriously, I never heard my previous upstairs neighbors. The new ones are clomping around 24/7. Annoying. Might have to say something.
- I do not understand the appeal of Rod Stewart. Can't stand his music.
- I'm out of milk again. I bought two gallons last weekend. Apparently we are some serious milk drinkers. Not really a surprise. Ovaltine FTW!
- I think I'm going to take a 401K loan and pay off the personal loan I have. On the one hand, I hate to deplete my 401K, but on the other hand, it's trading a ridiculously high interest rate for a very low one. The 401K loan is repaid directly out of my paycheck in an amount of time I get to select, AND it doesn't show up on my credit report. Not to mention that I'm paying the interest to myself, essentially, with a 401K loan. Decision: Benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
- I want to scene more. Who wants to scene with me? In Caliga I've got Susan, Romy, Miles, and Sam. In Muove I've got Susan, Romy, and Emma. They're all looking at you with puppy eyes. Play with them.
- Speaking of scening, I'm planning to audition another Caliga character. Yeah, I know. I know.
- Continuing to speak of RPGs, if you aren't playing, are you reading? Why not? Go, read. It's fun! [livejournal.com profile] caliga_rpg and [livejournal.com profile] si_muove_rpg. Check 'em out.
- Need to send out snail mail. Badly. Am a bad friend.

Mer's gone until Monday. Woot! I've been pretty frustrated with her the last couple weeks, so this break is well-timed. She and her dad (and the rest of their crew) are headed down to NC to see Jeff Dunham (?). I think he's a comedian/ventriloquist guy.

I have seven rpg characters. Why do I not have more scenes? Must find plot. *looks under cushions* Who wants to scene with me? Anyone? Anyone? (I actually do have some things lined up, but they're mostly stand-alone scenes. Not much meaty stuff.)

I have seven characters that aren't being scened terribly often as it is, so why am I tempted to bat eyelashes to be allowed a 4th Muove character? Because I want a Muove boy. Three girls and a boy, that's my thing. In Caliga it's Susan, Romy, Sam, and Miles. In Muove I have Susan, Romy, and Emma. No boy. I'm not sure WHICH boy, but I have a VR picked and everything. For a character I can't have, don't need, and have no plan for. Logic - not my strong suit.

I'll be putting up a lyric meme later. Fair warning.

My boss bought lunch for us today. Yay Jeff.

Our new subcontracts rep is a nice-ish guy, but he's so not getting the job done. He's overwhelmed, which may or may not be the reason for his incompetence, but he also has no tact and little professionalism. Very soon the villagers will be coming for him with pitchforks. It won't be pretty. Poor bastard just relocated here from another state, bet he regrets that.

I'm pretty sure there was more I wanted to say, but I can't think of what it was.

Just a quick update, in list form. I haven't done a real update in awhile now, so I'm going back a ways. Forgive me if I'm repeating myself.

Cars:
- Spent ~$700 getting the Sebring fixed a few weeks ago. It had been parked since last September.
- Last weekend Mer run up onto a curve in said Sebring. Popped a tire, screwed up the alignment, and broke off a good chunk of plastic guard underneath the engine.
- Sebring is now parked again.

Mer:
- Is out of school sick for the third day this week.
- Is no longer seeing Derek, and may start dating Vasy again. (She dated him last fall and they went to homecoming together. He's the one with the crazy mother.)
- Told Derek they couldn't be friends right now because when he texted her the sight of his name made her throw up. Suspect this might actually have been the bug she's got rather than disgust at ex-boyfriend.

Work:
- Had a fun cinco de mayo party on Monday. Got a little tipsy, but was ok to drive home by the end of the day. Not sure I accomplished much that afternoon, though.
- I really need to get ready to go there.

RPGs:
- Caliga Ortus has several openings for characters who've puppeteers have left/are leaving the game. Off the top of my head I believe there is: Severus Snape, Pansy Parkinson, Cormac McLaggen, Michael Corner, Padma and Parvati Patil, and Su Li. If you're interested in picking one of these folks up, you can go to www.dracoandginny.com/caliga and get the audition form. Would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the character as he/she has been played thus far first. For that you can go to [livejournal.com profile] caliga_rpg and click on the character's name in 'tags'.
- There is a nifty new community for posting historical, future, and AU Caliga scenes called [livejournal.com profile] caliga_plus. You can also request scenes.
- There's a new HP rpg starting up, Si Muove. If you're interested in joining, go to [livejournal.com profile] si_muove_ooc and send an application for the character you'd like to play.

That's all for now. I'd better get to the office.

So, I am over my Caliga angst. And I was a scening fiend yesterday. I worked on Caliga stuff, mainly for the big party next weekend, quite literally through all my waking hours. That's like 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m., with a few breaks for eating, a 2 or 3 hour nap, and minor chores. It was a slow sort of scening, as people became available and whatnot, but good grief. That's a lot of Caliga. I've not signed on to YIM yet today. There are a few things I have to get done and I know that once I sign on I'll get engrossed again.

Speaking of Caliga, I have a great love of Caliga men. I couldn't decide which of them feature in my icon for this post, so I'm just using my penis icon. A good, all-purpose tribute to men and their odd wiggly bits. A few items of note though:

* Oliver's awake again. This makes me extremely happy. He's fun, and Romy's missed him.
* Tristan and Gwen are hot. Seriously, scorching hot. Had to stick my head in the freezer after reading that scene.
* Jos is... well, he's Jos. The center of the universe, not in a self-absorbed way but just a fact. Romy is quite literally aching for him to kiss her. Aching.
* Michael just needs a hug. He's had a rough couple of weeks.
* Miles spends way too much time at the office dealing with clients. He needs to get out with the boys more often and re-discover his Slytherin side. All the politeness and charm is grating on me.
* Harry makes me laugh. A lot. He tries so hard and yet he's so very clueless.
* Cormac has a thought one-liner in one of the party scenes that makes me giggle heartily.
* Justin is love. And Susan would be SO upset if she knew he was jealous of her. It's a little ironic, though, since he was just joking that while Lavender has no need to be jealous of Hannah, Susan was a different story since she's all 'single-lady' now. Hee. I adore him.

I need to shower. That's next on the agenda, I think.

It's cool and rainy today, but warm enough that I can leave the windows cracked and the sliding glass door open. This is actually my favorite kind of weather. The air is comfortable and fresh, a bit damp. It's good breathing air, and kudos to you if you understand what I mean by that.

Mer needs to come back with my lunch soon. I'm hungry.

Um... That's about all for now.

Random icons of Caliga VRs. Mainly mine, of course, but some others, too. Nothing super special, as my Photoshop skills mainly involve cropping and minor color adjustment.

I've got Michael (Gaspard Ulliel), Justin (Jason Dohring), Miles, (Jude Law), Cormac (James Marsden), Romy (Kim Kardashian), Sam (Neve Campbell), Susan (Natalie Portman), and a few Susan/Oliver (Jake Gyllenhaal) just because there were pictures of them together. >.>

And then Caliga ate my soul - but not Megan and Anthony's, odd that )

Susan's a naughty girl. Who knew?

Also, Meredith has been bugging me to mention that she scored three goals and had two assists at last weeks indoor game. So now I have shared that bit of information. Everyone say 'Yay Mer!' Apparently one of the assists was especially nice, as she can't speak of it without grandiose gestures and crowd sound effects. My child is not modest.

Yep. Second spam post of the day.

Do you ever read something random and have a very personal reaction to it? Today I pulled into the parking lot at work and the car in front of me had a license plate that said 'LKYNLUV'. Completely unbidden, my mind supplied, 'Screw you, braggy bitch.'

*cough*

No, I'm not bitter. Why do you ask?.

In other news, I didn't get to work until one o'clock today because this morning I noticed my tire was really low. I don't change tires. I just don't. Make fun if you like, it's still not happening. Becky and I have a long standing tradition of her looking at me with incredulity and saying, "You can't change a tire?" and I respond with, "So what, you can't do your own taxes." It's a priorities thing. And kind of a girl thing. There are boys who can change tires generally within easy distance, I don't need to know how to do it. I don't want to do it. So I don't.

Anyway, this really was not meant to be a rant about my lack of automotive skills. Back on track.

So, I decided that there was enough air in the tire to drive it the mile up the road to the tire shop, since I knew the tires were in pretty bad shape anyway. In the end, I bought two new tires and front brakes, spent ~$350, and watched the last half of a Jimmy Stewart/Audie Murphy movie and the first half of The Searchers while I waited. Gotta love old westerns. An older man who was waiting for his car, too, told me that Jimmy Stewart used to have it included in his contract for westerns that he'd get a certain amount of time to play his accordian during the film. I don't know if that's true or not, but he did play it in this one.

And I don't really want to be at work this afternoon. It's snowing. It's supposed to continue snowing for most of the week, I think. Off and on, of course, but enough that it'll make traffic a bear. Good thing I already have the milk, bread, and eggs at home. Everybody knows you can't get through a snowstorm without french toast fixins. Woohoo! White Death 2008 Part III: Tundra of Terror! (James and I like to make up bad horror film titles for each snowstorm in mocking tribute to the morons who flock to the grocery store like we won't be able to get out of the house for weeks. His favorite is White Death (pick a year) Part (pick a number): Arctic Armageddon, while I prefer Tundra of Terror. Seriously folks, ever heard of a snow plow? And this is Northern Virginia for Pete's sake, not North Dakota! We don't get a lot of snow.)

Also, my lateness to work means I missed out on the Project Control lunch at Famous Dave's. I'm irritated that I missed a free lunch, but beyond that I'm apathetic. I'd really rather be home in bed, or staring at my own computer. Or watching The Notebook, which I rented on [livejournal.com profile] seegrim's recommendation. Stop gasping, I know you've all seen it already.

In Caliga world, I'm excited about the Romy/Terence scene I have to post. Their relationship is unusual, to say the least. Romy's an odd girl. She keeps relationships very compartmentalized. I like her, and other people are starting to, too, which is kind of nice. Now that I have Miles, I really need to figure him out. He's not acting like I think he should. I suppose he'll take awhile to get to know. Susan... Yeah. I'd like to rent her a room in someone else's head for awhile. And one of these days I'll finish my Sam audition and get that turned in.

( Feb. 11th, 2008 10:14 am)
This is a very rambly post, but there is one important thing I need to cover first:

Carrie - Can you post the Michael/Susan scene this morning? We never said who was going to do it and my internet cut out at home just before I left for work so I couldn't email the scene to my work account. No big deal if you can't, we can just post it late. Thanks!

I really want to do the music meme that's going around, and I've been tagged to do the 10 people of serious yayness meme (ok, so that's not what it's called, but you know the one I'm talking about) by a couple people, and I do intend to do them. I just haven't yet. The music one is time consuming, and the 10 people one makes me limit the number of people I can squee about. I may have to break the rules for both and just answer as many as I want. You all know me. I can't pick favorites of anything. I'm all about the free love for all. Non-sexually speaking, of course.

I have two scenes going on that I'm very pleased with so far. I scened a few others over the weekend, and have a few waiting to be started. I'm always happy when I'm busy with Caliga stuff, though I did have a brief moment or two of panic this weekend when I allowed my imagination to run a little too wild and I envisioned both my girls getting the brush off from men in their lives, and one in particular spiraling into a pit of despair which ended with our favorite vampire getting the privilege of offing her at her request. Yeah, I got carried away. I'm better now.

Fictional men are ever so much more appealing than real ones. Why can't there be a real life Michael, or Oliver, or Justin? *sigh* Don't even get me started on fictional men outside the realm of Caliga. So much love.

I still need to post my Grayson pictures. I've seen her a few times in the last couple weeks, so yay for that! She's such a cutie. Tiny, but cute. She's seven months old now and still about 14 lbs. Little, bitty baby. She's developing well, though. She's started crawling. Gracie's being baptized at the end of the month and Becky asked me to be her godmother. *beams* I'm seriously beside myself with excitement. I'd honestly never even considered that she might ask. She said they're asking James to be her godfather, and I think he'll be very touched.

Blergh. I put way too much sugar in my coffee this morning.

Meredith broke up with her boyfriend. They were together for over three months. That's got to be a near record for her. I asked who was warming up in the bullpen, but she said she was sick of boys and didn't want another boyfriend right now. Right. That'll last.

She got a call from her buddy Robert, the kid I always wanted her to date from our old neighborhood. His older brother died in his sleep, they haven't determined why yet. I feel horribly for him. Robert is a really sweet kid.

That's about it for now.

I am so very ready to go home. SO READY. But no. I'm stuck here for another half hour at the very least, more likely an hour. *bangs head repeatedly*

In other news, Romy *points at icon* is a horrific bitch sometimes. Seriously. She should not deal with other women at all- especially when she's feeling rejected. It's like putting two beta fish in the same bowl.

I have to stop staying up so late. I say that all. the. time. One of these days I'll act on it.

There is pork roast waiting for me at home! Yay!

Um... Yeah, I guess that's it for now. Total spam post.
So, I've been a little icon making (i.e. cropping, as I don't do much else to the images) fool. Behold, Romy and Michael iconses. Er, I mean, Kim Kardashian and Gaspard Ulliel icons. Right.

Iconage beneath the cut )
I have to go to the grocery store. It can't be put off any longer. I wish, while procrastinating earlier in the week, it would have occurred to me that Superbowl Sunday is not a good day to get to the store. But now that day is here, and I can't avoid the task at hand. Stupid sustenance.

We're all (all being the usual crowd - James, Richard, Tracey, and the young 'uns - except Mer) going to Becky and Manny's for the game, as has been the habit for lo these last 8 years or so. I always enjoy getting together with everyone, but I've become such a hermit that the idea of going out when I could be snug in my cave is a little stressful. *sigh*

And I just realized that I haven't taken my happy pills in a couple days. Bugger. My memory is crap.

I want a boyfriend like Michael. *nods* To clarify, I am referring to Caliga!Michael, not my daughter's boyfriend. That would be disturbingly creepy and illegal.

Alright. I've procrastinated enough. Time to brave the football fans. Ugh.
