Color Me Disgusted

Stimulus Plan my ass. The American people deserve better than pork spending in sheep's clothing. How many generations are going to pay for special interests and socialism in this country? This is change I not only do not believe in, it's change that makes me ill.

Fuck you very much, Congressional Democrats and wussy, weak-willed pseudo-Republicans.

In other news that makes me see red, I read this article: Doctor's License Revoked Over Botched Abortion That Led to Live Baby Being Thrown Out

First, how is an abortion at 23 weeks even legal without medical necessity? The article doesn't even mention the legality, but I was really under the impression that 12 weeks was the latest you could go without a valid medical reason. But twenty-three weeks? Seriously? What kind of fucking moron can't make up their mind until more than halfway through their pregnancy? There's 'choice' and then there's selfish, ignorant fucks who ought to be sterilized. And honestly? What fucking bullshit that the 'mother' is all distressed now. The baby would have been just as well-formed and sentient if they'd killed it in utero as it was when she gave birth to it. She's only upset because she had to face the child she'd elected to murder. It would have been easier for her if she'd only ever seen it dead. I feel no pity for her. I hope the clinic owner is charged with murder and the doctor is forever stripped of his license. People are fucking sick.

I don't know enough about the stimulus plan to give an opinion, but I'd love to hear why you think it's a bad idea.

...

As for the other thing? I am sick to my stomach and completely agree everything you’ve said. The case that has defined abortion as we know it (Roe v. Wade) essentially ruled that the state has no say when it comes to women seeking abortions during their first trimester (essentially until the 12 week mark) but leaves anything with the second and third trimester abortions up to the state. I.E. – Even if President Obama decides to overturn the ban on late abortions, according to the Supreme Court, the state you live in still has the final say. In Iowa, it depends on the institution; though I think anything third trimester is illegal. The clinic I work at only goes until 13 weeks and 6 days. Our Des Moines clinic goes the farthest, at 18 weeks. And even that depends on the doctor. We only have one doctor who will go that far, the other will only go until 16, and the doctor I work with is the one who refuses to do anything 14 weeks or above.

I suppose my personal view, and that of a lot of women I know who are pro-choice, is that “the choice” to end your pregnancy ends when said pregnancy could potentially live outside of the womb. Viability. If the fetus has a chance to survive outside of the womb, then the procedure shouldn’t be performed. When exactly this is varies, so I can’t give an answer. The fact that the woman was 23 weeks sickens me. Like you said, she had at LEAST 17 weeks (depending on when she found out about the pregnancy) to decide. Waiting that long is just sick and wrong.

I also agree with you WHOLE-HEARTEDLY that the doctor should be stripped of his license (and probably should have been done earlier) and that the clinic owner should be charged for murder. That baby took a breath of air, meaning it was a live and whole person. It had lungs that filled with air. SHE had lungs that filled with air.

This disgusts me completely. I am actually sick to my stomach about something like this happening in the society we live in today. I am about as pro-choice as you can get, but I can guarantee you that 95% of pro-choicers would agree that this is irreprehensible. I think the state of Florida needs to reexamine its laws on second and third trimester abortions, and the rules and regulations regarding the way clinics can be run should be scrutinized as well.

The whole thing makes me want to vomit. I don't believe abortion should be illegal entirely, although on a personal level I find it abhorrent, but this is so far beyond the pale it's unimaginable. It's hard to imagine anyone not thinking this is wrong.

*Anyone* who thinks this is alright to have happened needs to seriously look at their own morals and see where they went...
