*grumbles*

Most of the time I have no trouble sleeping. James and I used to go to bed and I'd say something and fall asleep before he could even respond.

Tonight sleep has been an elusive bastard. I've gotten it in fits and starts, but nothing substantial. My alarm goes off in about an hour, and I've got to get up in earnest in an hour and a half or so. I suspect this will be a long day.

Sleep and dreams

I went to bed before midnight last night. I can't remember the last time I did that.

It's very sad when this sort of news is journal-worthy. The annoying thing? I'm still tired. Probably because I woke up around 4:00 and it took me awhile to get back to sleep. Middle-of-the-night brain function is irritating. I'd rather be sleeping, thanks very much.

Oh! A few nights ago I had a very odd dream. It involved mail-in votes for the next presidential election, which were written on large pieces of posterboard in multi-colored marker, that [livejournal.com profile] water_jade and [livejournal.com profile] stellarlyssa had sent to me to send in on their behalf because I was the only one still in Montana. Yeah, I don't know why Montana, but there you are. Delaney and Lys will be pleased to know that I can't even convince them to vote conservative in my dreams. *snicker*

Speaking of Lys, I've not spoken to her in a long time, even on LJ. Hi Lys! I miss you!

Can I go home now?

I am so very ready to go home. SO READY. But no. I'm stuck here for another half hour at the very least, more likely an hour. *bangs head repeatedly*

In other news, Romy *points at icon* is a horrific bitch sometimes. Seriously. She should not deal with other women at all- especially when she's feeling rejected. It's like putting two beta fish in the same bowl.

I have to stop staying up so late. I say that all. the. time. One of these days I'll act on it.

There is pork roast waiting for me at home! Yay!

An update, or rambling, nonsensical post

Belated thank yous to Urs and Grammypat for prettifying my profile page! And to Carrie for the incredibly awesome birthday gifts. (The jam is ohmygoshsogood!)

Believe it or not, I'm still sending out Christmas stuff. My international things have not been mailed (except for Jen's), and there are a few little gifts I still need to send out, too. Soon, I promise! Think of it as a Christmas surprise! The surprise being that I am behind schedule. Oh wait, that's not really very surprising at all.

If you haven't guessed from all the rambling chitchat, I got very little sleep last night. I was up scening until around 3 a.m. Caliga is officially my life. Yes, yes, I know this makes me sad and pathetic, but whatever. This evening I'll have to go back and review what I wrote because the likelihood that I was not terribly coherent by the end of the night is pretty high. I have to finish that scene tonight and at least start two others. Then there's one more I know of that needs to be done by the end of the week. Busy, busy! I love it. Susie's a total 'Puff, and Romy is such a tramp. I love my girls.

The downside is that I haven't been keeping up with people as well as I used to. This isn't entirely a Caliga-caused thing, it started last fall when I was having a pretty heavy bout of depression. I'm feeling better these days, and more accepting of the changes in my life over the last year/year and a half, but I haven't been as social as I used to. If you're one of the people I've been neglecting, you know who you are. I'm sorry for that, and I'm working on it. Please know that it isn't anything to do with you. I adore you all as much as I ever did. I'm just sorting some things through and it's taking time.

And now I think I'm going to get lunch. Tummy is rumbling. More sleep will be necessary tonight. If I'm up past midnight, smack me.

Is it too early for a nap?

I had a GYN appointment this morning. Fabulous way to start your day, let me tell you. Now I'm about to actually go to work. Any minute now I'll be heading out the door. Really.

Bah. I'm tired. Wish I could curl up in bed for a little while before heading in, but I really shouldn't.

I've not yet mailed the gifts that I need to mail. Not that there are a lot of them, since I'm low on funds this year. Anyway, they'll probably be late. Ditto for my out-of-country cards. I haven't made it to the PO to get appropriate stamps, so they've not gone out yet either. I'm working on it.

Need to finish my ficmas story and get it betaed for Saturday.

Also need to finish Christmas shopping. I've got Mer mostly done, but there are a few others (Mom, Sher, Pike, Maiken, etc...) for whom I still have to buy gifts.

Need to help Mer with the gifts she's making. Yes, making. We'll see if we can get finished by Sunday.

Aargh. Gotta run. Wish I could nap. Starbucks is inevitable and justified.

Tired

I stayed up way too late last night. I got up this morning to feed the critters and do a couple things, fully intending to go back to bed and add on to the four hours of sleep I've gotten so far. My newly acquired cold made it hard to get comfortable, but I finally started to doze off when the phone rang. It was James, telling me that he'd heard from the mechanic and the Explorer repairs will cost a lot of money. I went back to bed, drifted off for about 20 minutes and awoke to the sound of my cat trying to catch a fly that had situated itself on my blinds.

It is winter. Why is there a fly in my house?

I've now given up the whole 'sleep in bed' idea, and intend to go turn on a movie and write fic in the living room. AKA: I'm going to go fall asleep in a chair and wake up with a sore neck.

Right after I have breakfast. I wish I had bread to go with my Nutella. Perhaps a trip to the grocery should be added to the list of things to do today. At the moment, though, I think I'm stuck with oatmeal.
