Forgive me for not cutting this, I'm trying to save people money here.

Alright, I'm late in the day posting this, but for those of you who prefer online shopping to braving the Black Friday crowds, here are a few helpful leads for you.

Also! If you've been around my LJ for awhile, you may remember me bringing this up before. If you're going to be shopping online, visit www.igive.com and have your purchases count towards a donation to the charity of your choice at the same. I love igive.com. In the ~5 years I've been shopping through that portal, I've raised over $90 for my charity, just buying things I would have bought anyway. I don't pay any more than I would going to retailer sites directly, a donation is going to my charity, and I get a tax deduction for it! Sounds like a win-win deal to me. I've gone into greater detail about igive.com here: http://mugglechump.livejournal.com/tag/igive.com so check it out and make your purchases count towards more than your credit card debt.

Happy shopping!
I had a GYN appointment this morning. Fabulous way to start your day, let me tell you. Now I'm about to actually go to work. Any minute now I'll be heading out the door. Really.

Bah. I'm tired. Wish I could curl up in bed for a little while before heading in, but I really shouldn't.

I've not yet mailed the gifts that I need to mail. Not that there are a lot of them, since I'm low on funds this year. Anyway, they'll probably be late. Ditto for my out-of-country cards. I haven't made it to the PO to get appropriate stamps, so they've not gone out yet either. I'm working on it.

Need to finish my ficmas story and get it betaed for Saturday.

Also need to finish Christmas shopping. I've got Mer mostly done, but there are a few others (Mom, Sher, Pike, Maiken, etc...) for whom I still have to buy gifts.

Need to help Mer with the gifts she's making. Yes, making. We'll see if we can get finished by Sunday.

Aargh. Gotta run. Wish I could nap. Starbucks is inevitable and justified.

Well, I'm back from Delaware. The tournament did not go especially well for us, but Mer played well. I have photographic evidence that I'll get around to posting eventually.

Before heading home, Mer and I stopped by the mall and took slight advantage of Delaware's lack of sales tax on clothing. I didn't get to Christmas shop since she was with me, but we did pick her up a couple pairs of jeans so I will stop hearing that she only has three pairs. Now I suppose I'll hear that she 'only' has five.

For now, I'm catching up on the flist and email. I'm off work tomorrow so I can take my mom to her appointment. I'm hoping that doesn't take too awfully long. I could use a little rest time.

How was everyone's weekend?

ETA: I didn't mention that this tournament was a college showcase, rather than a regular competition. There were over 50 scouts there. Mer's coach just called. One of the scouts contacted her and is apparently very interested in Mer! She's so excited! So am I, actually. So YAY!

I may have mentioned this site before, but if I have it's been awhile.

www.igive.com

igive.com is a really fabulous site for anyone who shops online and wants to contribute to charitable causes at the same time. Merchants sign up with igive.com and agree to donate a particular percentage of the sales they get through the igive.com portal to charity. The best part is that we, as the consumers, get to decide what charity our shopping supports. It's not choosing from a list of pre-selected charities; it can literally be any charity you want your money to go to. If your favorite charity isn't already on their list, you can sign them up.

You aren't charged any extra for going through igive.com and the percentage that is donated to charity can be taken as a tax deduction at the end of the year. igive.com keeps record of your shopping activity and the amounts that were donated, and you can print it off for your records at any time.

The merchants that participate aren't all obscure, niche items either. Here are some of the stores you can shop from through igive.com:

Overstock.com (Kate's heaven)
Nordstrom
Macy's
Sears
JC Penney
American Eagle
Roaman's
The Children's Place
Sephora
Guess
Armani Exchange
Avenue
Bluefly.com
Ralph Lauren
Ann Taylor
Delia's
Target
Books A Million
BBC America
Dell
Best Buy
Godiva
Harry & David
Home Depot
Thrifty Car Rental
Hilton Hotels
Expedia.com
Joann Fabrics
FineStationery.com

I've been using i.give.com for almost 3 years now. I don't do a lot of online shopping, maybe once every other month or so. To date I've 'donated' over $70 to my charity of choice, just buying things I would have bought anyway.

So anyway, if you plan on shopping online, check out igive.com and see if you can do some good at the same time.
