Well, I made a list this morning of things I wanted to accomplish and I've pretty much done everything. It wasn't a long list, mind you, but it's an accomplishment just the same.
James is spending the weekend over at Richard & Tracey's since his mom's in town, so I called him over to help me haul stuff to Salvation Army. I got rid of 3 boxes of clothes, 3 boxes of household items and whatnot, a big bag of baskets (yay alliteration!), a student desk, and a dining room table. Hurray for more space in the apartment!
I also took out three bags of trash, plus one from my car. o.O
I've done the dishes, except for a couple pots. The dish drainer was full and I didn't want to balance them precariously on top, so they'll get done after the others dry.
I've done two loads of laundry and taken a shower.
And I'm eating lunch right now.
Wow! I was more productive than I thought! Go me!
Mer and I went to Blockbuster last night. She's watching bad horror flicks now. Occasionally I can't help making a sarcastic comment about the acting or the supposed plot, which earns me an annoyed 'Do you mind?' look.
Once I'm done eating, I'll head over to R&T's place to visit for a short while. Then I have to go take my brother to the movies. My mom suggested OotP, but since I've seen it and Kenny is pretty easy to please, I think we'll see Ratatouille instead. Besides, the rat movie is likely to be less crowded than the Potter flick. I despise crowded theatres. Mer's coming, too. We're trying to convince my mom to come, but theatres are so loud now that she's not a big fan.
After the movie, we're having dinner with Mom. I think she's cooking, not taking us out, which is always interesting. Having grown up on my mom's cooking, I can enjoy most anything, but she does have some unusual food creations. She does make a good meatloaf, though, as long as she's not feeling too imaginative. *mutters about the sacrilege of green olives in meatloaf*
Looking at my day, I'm starting to feel a little tired. *sigh* Well, I'd better press on!
*hugs* to my Emmie, who lost her beloved kitty, Smokey. And *hugs* to the far-too-numerous friends who are still going through rough patches for one reason or another. We all need to feel better!

I was too busy bitching this morning to mention the really good things from yesterday.
I got to talk to Emmie! *dances gleefully* My poor Emmie isn't feeling great, but we had a good time talking about Deathly Hallows. Yay!
I also got mail from Gina! She sent me a pretty-licious picture of Jason Isaacs. *drools* That girl knows the way to my heart.
Oh! I upgraded my phone plan yesterday and now have unlimited texts. Yay!
So woo! That was good.

For Pud's birthday, she sent me mail! My mailbox was officially christened. Which meant I could receive mail from Emmie, too! (Because Emmie is a good, religious girl who couldn't send mail to an un-christened mailbox.) Thank you, lovely ladies! You made me so happy! Also, Cyn, we definitely should get together. I'm 45 minutes closer to you now!
I like my apartment, but Manassas is loud. Purcellville was anything but loud. It takes some getting used to. I'm slowly but surely putting things in their places. Saturday I took four big lawn and leaf bags of clothes and two boxes of household items to Salvation Army. I have more to send them, but that was a good start.
( Another meme about me - am I vain or what? )

I've been a whiney, emo mess the last two days. I'd suspect PMS, except I haven't had period in probably five or six months, and I have no reason to think I'll have one anytime soon. Meh. Anyway, that's why I've not been on AIM much. I haven't really wanted to subject anyone to me in my present state of mind. Bitter would be an appropriate adjective to describe me at the mo'. Mean might be another good one, although it's not really intentional. I'm a mass of simmering rage, jealousy, self-doubt, and self-pity and it's really starting to become annoying.
In addition to the personal issues that are responsible for my emo-ness, yesterday I realized I had made a significant error on a piece of work I'd done for one of the division managers. I owned up to it straight away, but the DM was sufficiently irritated that he called my boss. Fortunately, Jeff is really laid back and the error itself was a very simple one, it just happened to have a big effect. So, I'm not worried about fallout from the mistake, it just irritates me when I do something stupid. Especially when it's high-profile.
Anyway, enough of that.
I called Lys today and got a hold of her. She was in Venice for Carnival. I'm glad I got to talk to her, although she was, of course, very busy with the goings-on so it was not perhaps the ideal moment to speak to her for the first time. It made me happy, though. I miss her.
Today I watched 'Snakes on a Plane'. I had no interest in this movie while it was in the theatre, but I'd heard some good things so I decided to check it out. I laughed my butt off. I don't think that's the reaction the producers were going for, but it was hilarious. The premise is ridiculous, really, and Juliana Marg-howeveryouspellherlastname did the worst bit of acting I've ever seen from her. I was rolling, though. Parts of it reminded me so much of 80s horror flicks, with the gratuitous boob shots and sex humor. Someone I've seen around LJ has a great Snakes on a Plane/Harry Potter icon. I must seek it out and steal it (with permission, of course).
Emmie, I mailed out your CD today. I'm sorry we didn't get to talk last night, but I was really out of sorts and wouldn't have been any fun. We'll catch up soon, though, okay?
I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here or not, but about two weeks ago my grandmother had a stroke. It wasn't a major one, but she's been in the hospital and then in a nursing home for rehab ever since. My mom is flying down to St. Pete on Wednesday to help get things ready for when she goes home again, and I'll be driving down in a little less than two weeks. More details on that as things get firmed up, but I plan to at least one stop on the way down to visit with a friend, possibly more if I'm passing through other folks' areas at a time convenient for lunch or chit chat.
