mugglechump: (YAY)
( Jul. 2nd, 2007 11:23 pm)
For Pud's birthday, she sent me mail! My mailbox was officially christened. Which meant I could receive mail from Emmie, too! (Because Emmie is a good, religious girl who couldn't send mail to an un-christened mailbox.) Thank you, lovely ladies! You made me so happy! Also, Cyn, we definitely should get together. I'm 45 minutes closer to you now!

I like my apartment, but Manassas is loud. Purcellville was anything but loud. It takes some getting used to. I'm slowly but surely putting things in their places. Saturday I took four big lawn and leaf bags of clothes and two boxes of household items to Salvation Army. I have more to send them, but that was a good start.

Another meme about me - am I vain or what? )

Quick update:

- Still packing and wondering how the hell I'll get this done by the weekend.
- Have not reserved box truck yet because business (busy-ness? Too tired to look it up.)) makes me forgetful. Really, really need to do that tomorrow.
- Need to re-screen the window in the living room. Where do you get that done?
- Still working feverishly at the office, though hopefully that will slow down in the last few days of the week. Stupid auditors have decided to look over one of my programs. Not worried, just annoyed.
- Really, truly am very close to turning my exchange fic in. Please don't let Jess hunt me down, Jessica!
- Am very tired. Resemble raccoon due to dark circles under eyes.
- Had a few days that were relatively allergy free. Today isn't one of them.
- My brother Chris comes to town tomorrow. Don't know for how long, so am unsure whether I'll see him.
- Mailed packages to Emmie, Delaney, and Steph today. Be on the lookout.
- Have to find time to drop about 12 large bags/boxes off at Salvation Army.
- Myn - Found one of the pillowcases missing from the linens I gave you. Will send in my next round of mail.
- Need to get more boxes. Stat.
- Purchased a really nice sofa and matching chair for $775 at the Belfort clearance sale. Woo! Only bad things: Am very afraid cats will make quick work of the fabric as it's much more tempting than my current leather furniture for scratching. Sofa and chair are off-white. Need to look into slipcovers before pet hair and food stains make them permanently ugly.
- Also bought Mer a new dresser at the clearance sale. We got her current one at a yard sale a few years ago, and it's about had it.
- Ordered HP#7 now that I know where I'll be living in July.

June birthdays: Lys, Cyn, Delaney, my brother Chris, James, Mer, Manny, my niece Victoria. Tell me if I've left you off the list in error, and please don't be offended. My brain is fried at the moment. Emmie can attest that I will send you birthday goodies within two months of your actual day of celebration. *giggles a little madly*

Whew! That wasn't as quick an update as I had intended.

I miss you guys! I'll be back eventually, I promise! However, I'm going to bed now.
So, this weekend I didn't accomplish anything towards my goal of moving in three weeks. Go me. This means that frantic packing will ensue shortly. The frantic packing will be hindered by the necessary sorting of Things That Belong To Me and Things That Belong To James, combined with the Things I Really Should Have Mailed Ages Ago, Things That Salvation Army Will Get and Things That Not Even Salvation Army Would Want. Procrastination IS my life. Again, go me.

Along the same vein, maybe I can finish my [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange fic tonight. Wouldn't that be handy? Thank God for the extension to June 1st because I would be seriously screwed if it hadn't been given.

Oh, and Mer needs a haircut and a pair of silvery shoes for prom - which is next Saturday. Also need to make her hair appointment now that I a timeline for her activities next weekend. Let's hope there is an available appointment somewhere. We are lucky that all the local proms are over and done with, and it's unlikely that anyone in our town will be attending the prom that Mer's going to since it's about an hour away. Hopefully that will translate into at least one available hairdresser.

I heard from my current landlord that he'll prorate our June rent since we're moving out before the end of the month AND I have a $160 credit, so that further reduces the money to be paid. I don't know what to expect as far as our security deposit. We could potentially get back all $2100, but that seems unlikely. So, my take will somewhere between $0-$1050. I need to get two windows re-screened and have the carpets professionally cleaned according to my lease. Boo for those expenses. Also, I need to reserve a box truck for the move weekend - and also my BIL's help and maybe Manny's too. James and I made one move all by ourselves and I literally cried before it was over. Not doing that again. Also, need to arrange for utilities at the new place. So many things! I hate moving!

I've discovered that the high school in our new school district is filled with MS-13 and other gangs. Joy of joys. So, Meredith will be homeschooled for the next year at least. I've found a correspondence school I like with reasonable fees, and will get her started as soon as we move. Hopefully this will allow her to catch up to where she is supposed to be in school. Keep your fingers crossed that she'll make the most of it.

James and I went to BIL's place yesterday. They had the couple from next door over, too, and we ate and chatted and played games until nearly 10:00. Lots of fun.

While we were over there it was mentioned that Sheridan, my nine year old niece who is finishing up the third grade, was told by her teacher that she's now reading at nearly an 11th grade level (10th grade + 9 months). *pats the little brainiac* This is not really a surprise to those of us who know her. This is the child who has been able to define 'financial freedom' since the age of two. "It's when your passive income exceeds your expenses." She's a trip.

That's all for now.
Spent most of the weekend getting the living/dining rooms clean. Seriously, that's all. Still have the entire rest of the house to clean. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkk. Real Estate Lady wants to come out, so I've got to get this crap done asap. I can only stall for so long.

James has probably found a place and will begin moving his things out as soon as he gets the keys.

I have to call the apartment complex I put in an application with to make sure I was accepted and see if any further deposit is required.

I need to send an official 'I'm moving out' email to Real Estate Lady.

Work is insane, nothing is going smoothly, I'm ticked at my boss and generally want to scream.

I have to leave early today to go see the Victims' Advocate with Mer re: the upcoming trial against Stalker Boy, who probably won't even show for court since it's believed he jumped bail.

Large expenses looming:

*Potential deposit for apartment.
*Rent overlap for moving period.
*$260 for Mer's behind the wheel class.
*Prom dress & hair, and possibly shoes.
*June is the big birthday month. My brother Chris, Mer, James, and Manny. Also Lys and *Delaney, Pud, and possibly others who I'm forgetting at the moment. (Haven't forgotten you Emmie, still working on getting to the PO.)

Good thing - James will be paying me back this week for the suit I bought him for Jessica's wedding and the rent he owes me for this month.

It would be really nice if Robbie's tax check would appear in my account very soon, though. Really. Nice.

Also I have an exchange fic due the 25th! Yikes!
