I was too busy bitching this morning to mention the really good things from yesterday.

I got to talk to Emmie! *dances gleefully* My poor Emmie isn't feeling great, but we had a good time talking about Deathly Hallows. Yay!

I also got mail from Gina! She sent me a pretty-licious picture of Jason Isaacs. *drools* That girl knows the way to my heart.

Oh! I upgraded my phone plan yesterday and now have unlimited texts. Yay!

So woo! That was good.

Hello everybody! I hope your V-Day has been nice. Thank you, Urs, for the e-card - it was really cute! Also, thank you to everyone who sent me Valentinr greetings!

I stayed home from work today due to the ice that's all over the road. I managed to get a little work done, but I'll have quite a bit of time to make up. Meredith's school was closed, and will be closed again tomorrow. Poor James had to go into the office, but he was allowed to be late.

In TMI news, Picabo does not like ice. She adores snow, but when the snow has a thick layer of ice on top it stops her from being able to sniff the ground. The sniffing is apparently a crucial component of deciding where to do one's business. She was most displeased. She pacified herself by taking a dump in front of the house where her doggy nemesis lives while I was not paying attention. Her attempt at insulting Robin (the other dog) was thwarted, though, as I did eventually notice the poop and bagged it like a good pet owner.

I talked to Gina today! I got bored with working, so dialed her up and we chatted for quite a while. Lots of giggling and silliness. The highlight of my day. :D *huggles Gina*

Tried to call Lys since I was home at a time when it was still daytime in Italy, but couldn't reach her. Bummer. I miss my Lys!

I'm trying to finish up a story for

smut_friday, but give my general lack of creativity lately, and my waffling over scenes of lemon in general, well, we'll see...

Today is the day that my entire office moves from one building into another. We were supposed to be able to work until 2:00, which most of us really needed in order to get our work even remotely close to done. However, at about 11:15 word came down that we needed to expedite our absence from the building. i.e. Get out now or very, very soon. Now would be preferable. So, after ensuring that everything in my office was packed up and labeled, and helping to ensure that the common areas of our suite were completely packed, I left. That was probably around noon. So, hurrah for a short day, but boo because we are required to make up our time. So, yeah, mega boo for that. It seems to me that if I don't have an office to work in, and the server is down for the move, I should be able to just charge to overhead for the time I HAVE to miss. Unfortunately, the higher-ups don't think that way. Bunch of boo-boo heads.

Yes, I just said boo-boo heads.

On my way home I stopped and got lunch, then went to Borders and spent too much money. I got one book for Meredith and seven for me. That seemed fair. Two of my books were free, so woot for that.

Now I am home, trying to convince myself to ignore the lure of the internet, my new books, and Sims 2, and instead work on writing fic. What a novel idea. Can I pull it off? Time will tell, but so far (seeing as I'm on LJ) it's not looking good.

I've exchanged LJ and facebook comments with Lys, which is about as close as I can get to chatting with her for the time being. She has mailed me a letter. These things make me happy.

Note to Gina: I miss you, dear. I hope things are okay, and that you come back soon! How am I supposed to hold Crazy Bitch meetings without my co-founder?

Oh! I was talking with Meredith last night about what made her decide to break up with the boy I didn't like. Apparently this BF told Meredith that he wanted to have a baby with her - now. Mer was very much like, "WTF, dude? You're nuts!" As was I. Hopefully the saga of the freakishly stupid boyfriend is now over.

I wonder if there are any Cheez-Its left...

Hooray for MAIL! When I finally got home around 8:30 this evening, James said, "I'm jealous of you. You have three cards in the mail." And I DID!

heyurs sent me a super nice card that made me feel all warm and loved, and I got Christmas cards with very sweet messages from

castoffstarter and

rainpuddle13! What a great way to end a very long day!

Now I just need to get on the stick and mail out my Christmas stuff.

In life news, my grandmother is out of the hospital. She's staying in a nursing home for the next two weeks to finish recuperating. Apparently she got a nurse in the ICU fired. I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I'll share when I find out more.

Mom is flying home on Wednesday, so I only have to feed the kitty tomorrow night and then pick Mom and Kenny up from the airport at lunchtime Wednesday. I love my family, and my mom's cat, but I'll be very glad to be done with that extra driving every night. And Punkin (the cat) is lonely, so she'll be happy to have company again.

Last night Becky started bleeding a little and went to the hospital. She and the babies seem to be fine, but she's on medical leave until her OB clears her to come back to work. She had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday anyway, so she'll probably be back to work on Thursday. Aside from having a fright, the biggest concern Becky has is that they did a sonogram at the hospital which means she probably won't have one at her appointment like she was supposed to, and she had hoped to get more pictures from it. The hospital, of course, is not set up for that sort of thing.

I have to say, far too many people I know have been in the hospital in the past few weeks. Nobody else can be ill! *points authoritative finger at you all*

I finally turned in my exchange fic this weekend. I was not very happy with it. I'm hoping my dgsmuttakah story turns out better.

I need Christmas-y icons.

So the run down of exciting things today.

Also, there is a thuggish girl threatening Meredith. I spoke with the school officer today about it, and he spoke to the girl and her father. Hopefully it will stop now. If not, I'll drag her punk ass into court because it is a felony to threaten someone via email. Usually I try to let kids work things out between themselves, but this girl's gone a bit far and I'm tired of it. Don't fuck with my kid.

I did end up getting a couple hours to myself. That part of the day was nice.

Also, big hugs and lots of love and prayers for Gina. I'm so sorry for what you're going through, love. I'm here if you need to talk.
