Ok, so did I mention that got served with a lawsuit for running a toll? There is a privately owned toll road that I used to use every day when I worked in McLean. 15 miles of road that costs $3.20 to travel EACH WAY. I have a little device called SmarTag that is attached to my windshield, which charges my debit card $75 at a time and then deducts the funds each time I go through the toll until my balance gets low, then it automatically charges my card again. Except that back in April, it didn't automatically refresh. Maybe my bank funds were too low to charge the whole $75, I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm driving home during rush hour and I get the red light of no funds. I can't stop, there are people lined up behind me and no toll taker in the SmarTag lanes. I figure the charge will go through that night. Nope, the next morning the same thing happens. Now, I realize I should have gotten in the non-SmarTag lane to pay with cash *just in case*. I wasn't thinking, though, and I didn't. I should have called and said, "Hey, my SmarTag was out of funds, where can I send the toll money to make good on my account?" I didn't. That's my fault. They, however, never sent me any letter requesting payment, until I got served by a police officer. We're talking about $6.40 here, people. Not exactly a fortune. So, James works at the courthouse, so I send him with a check to pay my $6.40 and be done with it. Only now, there is a processing fee of $56 PER CHARGE, a $75 fine for the first trip, and a $50 fine for the second trip. All told, my $6.40 toll cost $237. WHAT THE FUCK? Now I have to go transfer funds from one account to the other, so that my $237 check doesn't bounce, landing me in a whole lot more court trouble.
Work is not going well, either. I just discovered that two folks on one of my contracts were given the wrong charge numbers, so now I have to get them to change there timecards for the last two months, change my spend plan to reflect the correct information, redo my report that was due yesterday, and listen to my boss rail about errors. Oh, squee.
Someone just kill me now.
