It's Christmas Eve, and I'm sitting in my holiday (semi-)finery waiting for the other two members of the household to finish getting ready for Midnight Mass. We haven't been to church in FOREVER. Honestly, we haven't been in a long, long time, and I'm excited to go. Candles, community, singing, and joyful anticipation of the day to come. This is what I love about this time of year.

This time tomorrow I'll be thinking, "All that preparation and stress, and it's over already?", but for now I'll enjoy this last bit of the wait and think about how very blessed I am.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I am thankful for each and every one of you. *squeezes flist*

Have fun!! It's been a while since we've done a midnight service...there is just something about walking out of church and it's all dark and quiet and Christmas...

My parents decided I couldn't go.

>.<

Their reasons were... good, I guess, like that they think I need to sleep and such, but... also irrelevant. It's Mass. *sighs* It doesn't really have anything to do with sleep. So I'm not quite sure what to think about it all.

I can understand your anticipation of Christmas services. We never go at midnight, but we always go to the earlier service. This year was a bit of a disappointment (they have been dumbing down the Bible readings a little more every year, but this was the worst ever!), but it still made it feel like Christmas. I wish you, Mere, and James a wonderful and meaningful Christmas!

Happy Christmas Wilson family! I went to midnight mass tonight as well, even though I'm going to 7:30am mass again. I wanted to see the adult choir and hear the bells ring loud and clear in the still night. It was beautiful beyond words.

You mean the world to me, Katie-bugs! Have a wonderful day today and relax. I am overjoyed to have met and befriended you this year. You are one of my first and dearest fandom friends and I'll never forget all that you've done for me. *hugs extra tight*

I'm not sure how far the church is from you or any of that, but I can understand your parents' concern. Don't fret, Midnight Mass is there every year. You'll get to go. Imagine going in one of those great old cathedrals in England. *sigh* Beautiful.

To you, too! *huggles back* James is quite jealous of your pecan pie, BTW.

Thank you! I hope your family is enjoying their Christmas.

I know what you mean about dumbing down the Bible readings and other parts of the service. It can be frustrating. This year we sang 'The First Nowell'. Spelled that way. There was a line stating that this was the original spelling in the English hymn, but honestly 'Nowell'?

No sleep for you, Catholic girl! Midnight mass is always an experience. No bells for us, though. Now I'm jealous. *g*

Have a great time with your family today, Gina-Beana. (I have visions from 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' floating in my head. And, I know, you aren't Greek, you're Italian, but it's the big family thing.) *glomps* I love you, dear!

Your Christmas is probably over by now,or nearly over. I hope it was wonderful and happy! *hugs*
