I just split my cars onto a separate insurance policy from James. Now, I have two cars, one that is financed and one that is free and clear, and he only has one, which is paid off. So, I expected that my costs would not go down that much from what we've been paying, which was $800-something every six months.
The initial transfer of my vehicles to a new policy made my new six month premium $654, which seems reasonable given the circumstances and the fact that I have an accident and two tickets in the last few years. Then I updated my address.
Living in Manassas, rather than Purcellville, costs me an extra $140 in insurance every six months. *head desk* And Meredith doesn't even have her license yet.
I hate Manassas. Stupid low-income neighborhoods filled with crime and illegals.

There are some nice areas in Manassas, but there are a lot of crappy neighborhoods. My apartment complex is right in the middle of some seriously craptastic areas, although the complex itself is not bad. Manassas used to be a really redneckish town (that I made fun of when I was growing up a well-to-do little brat in Great Falls), but in recent years it's been taken over by a gazillion hispanics, many of dubious legality, and other lower-socioeconomic folks. MS-13 is here, apparently. I don't feel unsafe, but I don't let Meredith walk anywhere alone.
Purcellville, by contrast, is a semi-rural yuppie town where the new homes are frequently $1M and up, and its one itty bitty college is closely linked with the Eagle Forum (much to the local liberals dismay, actually). Crime is not a big concern, despite Mer managing to import her own stalker from Georgia.

I'm just a bill. Yes, I'm only a bill. And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.

I work in that area. Dulles is not a town, but a vicinity. Let him know that if he needs a local to give him information on the area, I'm around.
