Like my Alice icon? I know, I know, her hair isn't right, but she was pale and waifish, and it has that whole red/white/black theme going on. Also, if you look carefully, I colored her eyes to show that she's not thirsty right now. *cough*

I'm getting close to the end of Eclipse, but I'm not quite done yet. Bella is still irritating me. Or, I should say she's irritating me again. I wasn't as upset with her in New Moon as some of you indicated you were. Anyway, I'll write up my thoughts after I finish the rest of this last book.

Speaking of books, I don't think I ever shared my thoughts on City of Bones. I enjoyed the book, and I'll read the rest of the trilogy. I did feel a little cheated by the fact that she used the falcon story. It made me think that was the probably the real reason she pulled down all her fanfiction stuff, because wouldn't it be embarrassing to have your new readers realize you'd actually written that scene for Draco. Not only that, but I felt like if I'm going to spend the better part of $20 on a book I've never read before, then I ought not to feel like I've read it before. Call me cheap, but I already read the falcon bit (and a few other bits that were less important) online for free. Why should I spend money to read them again? Granted, the majority of the book was fresh material, but I was annoyed. Call me petty, I don't care. I just hope she hasn't saved any other DT-verse snippets for futures Mortal Instruments volumes.

I've gotten lots of mail in the last couple days! I got TWO cards and a totally cute DRABBLE from Emmie, and letters from Cyn and Gina! I've said it before and I'll say it again - my friends ROCK!

Oh, and I'm feeling better now. Thank you for all the well wishes! *reiterates bit about friends who rock*

On a sad note, I've decided to put down my handsome black kitty, Jinx. His mobility has gotten really bad due to his neurological problems. It's time. He's not in pain, and he's generally a pretty happy cat, but he doesn't really walk anymore. He pulls himself along with his front paws most of the time. He has a very hard time navigating the litter box, and often falls back out - right through his mess. He has thyroid issues. The fact that he's not sick or in pain makes it really difficult, though. I wouldn't feel as guilty if he was miserable. So, that's happening on Thursday. James is coming out to see him tomorrow. I haven't told Mer yet, but I will tonight. I will miss my little dude. He's a pretty awesome cat.

So tonight I've got to clean up a bit around the house. It's embarrassingly unchanged since James was last over - a month or two ago... I also need to do laundry.

Also, later this evening I'm having dinner with Richard. And I need to go buy cat food and milk. *sigh* I'm glad Mer's practice was cancelled!

i am very sorry about Jinx. i know how hard it is to make that decision. you're doing the right thing, Katie. he'll be comfortable this way. *hugs*

i'm also very happy because you got my ridiculous letter! i sent it while at work, i was almost out of envelopes and you almost got a "lwe logo" envelope. you would have been like, "wtf?"

*ignore city of bones thoughts* i haven't finished my second way through yet and refuse to read anything about it until i have finished it again. i am a nerd, i know.

i need to do laundry as well. sigh. such is the life. ;)

*hugs* Thanks, Cyn. I'm missing Jinx, but I'm glad he didn't get to the point where he was really uncomfortable. Talking to the vet helped a lot, too. He was certain I was making the right decision.

Aww Jinx! *hugs him* He is hurting, he just isn't showing you if he is doing that. Poor thing. He will be missed. He can meet up with Smokey now :) They can be friendsies!

omg: I just took Molly to the vet for some similar reasons. He knows me and knows I wouldn't ask for a cat to be put down without good cause. He also knows this is one of my rescue cats and we've had her for about 11 years.

this is a tremendously difficult decision and my thoughts are with you.

*hugs* Thanks. My vet was a great comfort. I think James was worried I was being hasty, and the vet was able to explain that cats don't always show their pain. They are very stoic. He also said that since Jinx was dragging himself around most of the time, he was likely to develop sores and it wasn't really fair to keep him alive another few months just so that we could confirm he was in pain. So, I feel better about my decision. I still miss his handsome face, though.
