mugglechump: (Let It Snow)
([personal profile] mugglechump Dec. 6th, 2007 11:45 am)
It's that time of the year when we get to wish for things. So, here's my list of wishes. I had a hard time coming up with this because Lord knows I don't need anything. I certainly don't expect anything. I already have some of the best friends in the world, which is worth more to me than anything I might get wrapped in pretty paper. In any case, I've made my list, checked it twice, and now it is documented - just in case Santa has LJ.

The Instructions
Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My List
1. A pair of water-resistant gloves.

2. Music. I've been wanting The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and David Bowie. However, most folks know that I have pretty eclectic taste, and I'm open to almost anything. I'm not a big fan of rap, but anything else is pretty much fair game.

3. Pretty stationery. The better to write you with, my dear.

4. Fic, fic, and more fic. D/G fic is my favorite, obviously. I love fluff. I love hawt sex. I love drama and misunderstandings. I love Draco when he's being possessive and jealous. I love Ginny when she's fiesty. I love it all, really, so long as the beloved OTP are together (or at least it's implied that they're moving in that direction) in the end. Fun Caliga scenes count in this category, too, and not just Draco and Ginny. Also in this category are reviews for my fics. Reviews are made of awesome.

5. Baked goods. No one I know up here does any real holiday baking. If they make anything, it's those pre-packaged cookies you just slice and bake. They're tasty, but it's not nearly as good as homemade.

6. Fun socks. I don't care that they're cheesy, I love those cute little socks with cats and Santas and whatever else on them. I also love soft, fuzzy chenille-type socks. Me and Dumbledore, all about the foot warmth.

7. A sexy, smart, successful man who adores me. Really, if you can work this one out, I'll be your best friend for life.

8. Really moisturizing body lotion. Winter makes me so dry.

9. D/G fan art. So pretty.

10. DVDs. The Philadelphia Story (K. Hepburn), Holiday (K. Hepburn), Topper, The Thin Man series, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 or 3, the new Pride and Prejudice, Robin Hood (Disney animated), The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Crash.

Oh! And I got a card from [livejournal.com profile] caramelsilver! Thank you, Caroline! It's lovely!

#2 David Bowie - Which albums? Remember I have a bunch of those albums upstairs on the desktop that need to be put on a disk my dear... I might even be able to find the Red Hot Chili Peppers soo name some Album titles and I will get them slapped out for you:)

#5 What kind of cookies would you like and I will see if they are on my list of 'to make' or you might get something wierd like Cherry Winkies....

I can't wait until I have a good herb and oil supply...you might want to let me know for future reference what your favorite flower/herb scents are and maybe I will be able to make something you will like...I have a bunch of recipies that are at the ready...just need the right supplies.

Honestly, my Bowie collection currently consists of 2 songs. I have about the same number of songs by The Police, and absolutely nothing by RHCP. Any contribution would be more than welcome. I was amazed when I realized I didn't have this stuff. Seems like all these should just be part of the basic music portfolio!

As far as cookies go, jeez, it's hard to go wrong. I love chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, Russian tea cookies, snickerdoodles... When it comes to baked goods, I'm pretty open to any source of yum.

Flowers? What do you make with flowers?

Really you can make anything with dried flower petals, dried and fresh herbs and essential oil. Teas, perfumes, soaps, bath salts, bath bombs, the list can go on for ever...its been something I have wanted to start doing for awhile now. I am going to get to start it this spring if everything works out right. My mum is giving me two flower beds to start my garden and donated a few flower pot that are huge. My lists are written up and all I am waiting for is Hubby to give me the final go ahead to place my orders...Okay now I am going to shut up now before I get too much more carried away*Grins*

Yay! I've never sent christmas cards before but it's so much fun! I suprised at how fast my cards are arriving, well better too early than too late, right?

I love sending mail - any kind. Receiving mail makes me squee out loud.

Overseas mail is really unpredictable. Last year I sent a card to Australia and it arrived before the card I sent to someone who lives just two hours away. Early or late, though, it's always welcome!
