So this morning I got a text message from Richard - NOT my brother-in-law - asking me if I'm available for dinner tonight.

Um. Let me think here.

No.

He's back again?

And I must agree... being asked out by a text message? Hmmm.

Men. There must be good ones out there; I'm convinced there are good ones out there. But... where are they?

Yeah, out of the woodwork after a month/month-and-a-half of no contact.

Good men? They appear to be stuck in works of literature or married to women who worked more quickly than we have. *sigh*

nice. can you keep him around so i have something to laugh at?

Sorry, as hard as it is for me to get rid of people in the first place, I don't think I'll be re-opening this particular can of worms. Feel free to laugh anyway, though.

Does that mean that if you said yes and got a relationship going, you could break-up via texting as well? That would be hella funny.

Well, we saw each other very casually for about two months or so. Then we just stopped without any specific 'breaking up'. I suppose texting would be a bit more advanced than that. *snerk*

Sorry, I just realized as I re-read my comment that it sounded really bitchy, and I didn't mean it that way! :(

Perhaps he never got to ask a girl out by text when he was a teenager (and these things were acceptable), so he's making sure he gets to do it now?

I don't know, maybe. But he can practice his teenaged-variety wooing on another woman. I'm not interested.

Did you at least send him a text message back "nope you dope"?

From: [identity profile] mugglechump.livejournal.com

I was a bit more diplomatic, but yes, I told him I was not available. The next text asked 'Maybe another time?' I've not worked up an answer to that yet. 'Hell no' seems a little cruel, so I've got a bit of editting to do before I reply.
