So, I've been friended by a couple Russian journals recently. This morning I scrolled through some entries in [livejournal.com profile] fupeni's journal, just looking for a hint as to why this particular Russian decided to friend me. I stopped short when I saw one of the gickr icons I'd made of my Caliga characters in a post from 1/18/09. Here's a screencap, the entry is locked so you can't see it unless this weird Russian journal has you friended, too.

So, then I was curious what was written. Was it about me? Was it about the game? Did he/she just think the icon was cool? I went to freetranslation.com, sketchy though it is, and this is the translation I got back:

For you this person does not represent danger. While.

Now основние rules of behaviour at a meeting with this person.

1. do not look it in the face. Not in which case do not look it in the face.

2. If you will meet it in the street, come over to other party of road.

3. If it will sneeze, do not wish it health. вкоем a case aloud! Only mentally!

4. Do not greet it заруку.

5. If have appeared together in one cabin of the lift behave naturally.

Ого! This all about the person on a picture:

*blinks* Um... Yeah, I'm a little creeped out. The only half-legitimate thing I can think of is that there's some sort of meme/quiz thing where you upload a picture and it spits out 'rules of behavior', but still odd that they'd choose my Caliga character icon.

It's a spam journal. If you try to translate any of the entries, you'll get the same random nonsense. LJ's had a problem with them for quite awhile.

You can either report it or ignore it. If you ignore it, it should unfriend you in a few months.

*blinky blinky*

I've been friended by a few journals too, as Jo has said... some of them are russian... one of them was this weird journal talking about how she's going to kill herself/starve herself. I don't know what to think about that...

... Weird. Why would anyone go to that kind of trouble just to produce such wtf results?

I say it is a spam journal.
Do not friend and ignore it. I guess you can report it.

Yep, I agree. There have been problems on LJ with these things, and many of them are from Russia. (Without love, I believe!) If you check the FAQs, there's information about it.

I think a lot of people have had luck in blocking these things. The FAQs are a good place to start, but if it continues, it's also possible to contact LJ site moderators and get help in blocking them.

I have a couple of these strange Russian lj's which friended me as well. It's really odd... and I was told that they are some sorts of lj bots. *shrugs* I just ignore them.

That's very creepy about the icon, hon. Eeeewww! I have been getting these for months, though. Usually LJ catches it and will delete the journal, but I still have few that are hanging around. Ugh!

I don't know... I think it's one hell of a coincidence that it friended you AND has a pic of KK that says Romy on it in a post.

Hmm.

If you report spam journals they're usually suspended within a day or two.
Good luck!
