I got Pud mail! YAY for correspondence! Thank you for the card, Cyn! I was so excited to receive it!

This morning, as I was making Kool Aid, I began to think about Splenda and its wonderfulness. I'm very picky about what I will eat or drink that is 'diet'. Coca-Cola will never be replaced by Diet Coke when I'm the one drinking it. In Kool Aid, however, I can exchange Splenda for sugar and still be pleased with the resulting drink. There are other benefits, too. Kool Aid is cheap. If I drink Kool Aid, I reduce the amount of soda I imbibe, which saves me money. If I reduce the number of sodas I drink, my teeth (which seem to be more faithful to my dentist's bank account than to me) do not have as many problems, which saves me more money.

I also use Splenda in tea. I don't like it in coffee so much. You can bake with it in many instances. The low carb and no sugar added ice creams that use Splenda are pretty decent, too. Splenda is relatively inexpensive. Splenda is love.

Another 'diet' item that I actually like is Dreamfields pasta. The Dreamfields folks have figured out how to take a lot of the carbs out of actual pasta, rather than trying to make something pasta-like using something other than wheat like other companies have done. The end result is good. Not as good as regular carb-laden pasta, but it's actually good. I've tried a lot of low carb 'pastas', and most of them are awful. Dreamfields is far from it. I can eat Dreamfields pasta and not feel like I'm missing out on decent food for the sake of diet. Dreamfields is love. We cook it up and put Italian dressing on it and eat it as a side fairly regularly, in addition to using it for spaghetti and whatnot.

There was something else I was going to ramble about, but I can't remember what it was now. Oh well, I can always come back later.

It actually came in on Thursday, but Meredith had taken the mail to the basement for some reason and didn't bother to tell me I had something that wasn't junk. *grumbles about irresponsible teenagers*

At first the switch from Coke to Diet Coke was difficult, but then I got so used to it that when I had a regular Coke, it tasted weirdly dusty.

James drinks Diet Coke with Splenda, but we both abhor aspartame, so regular Diet Coke just makes us say BLECH!

It's an acquired taste. I mostly acquired it because the school's vending machines don't have too wide a variety of options.
