Inspired by Lys' pictures of pretty Minnesota, I took some photos around the area where I live. I've linked them so that my friends with dial-up aren't slowed down by the photos. Welcome to western Loudoun County, Virginia!

Entering my town:
Purcellville sign

Around my house:
The view off my deck
My Yellow Pear tomatoes
My Park's Whopper tomatoes
My Goofy Kid
My Cat Mia
My Cat Lucky
My Cat Jinx
My Dog Picabo

Patrick Henry College in Purcellville:
PHC itself
PHC Dorm
Patrick Henry College is a tiny little school about a mile from my house. They have one academic building and three dorms. It's a Christian school, with a hell of a debate team. Primary focuses are PoliSci and Journalism.

Neat stuff in the area:
The Pick Your Own Flowers Farm
The Waterford Downs Show Barn
A one-lane bridge in the middle of nowhere
The Washington & Old Dominion Trail is ~40 miles of bike/walking path that stretches from Purcellville all the way to Washington, DC. Very scenic.
The W&OD Trail
The Paeonian Grocery and Gourmet, despite its shabby appearance, has a phenominal selection of wine and beer from all over the world. It's also the only place within 30 minutes of my house that I can get Scharffen Berger chocolate.

The Village of Waterford. Originally a Quaker village, this is a charming little town with an absurd amount of historical site regulations.:
The Old Mill at Waterford
Waterford Corner Store
Waterford Post Office
Along the narrow street in Waterford
A Waterford House

Local Farms:
Farm 1
Farm 2
Farm 3
Farm 3 - Wide Shot

The McMansions that are taking the place of local farms. Called McMansions because they are cookie cutter houses on a grand scale. Insanely high prices.:
McMansion 1
McMansion 2

This is one of my favorite private properties in the area. God knows what this guy pays for landscaping, but he's got acres and acres like this.:
Landscaping 1
Landscaping 2
Lanscaping 3

*grins* I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. Loudoun used to have a really big farming community. There are still quite a few farms, but more and more it's getting overrun by the McMansions. *sigh*

I'm looking forward to the tomatoes getting ripe. I've already eaten my lettuce, and I have green beans that will be ready soon. I'm not sure my watermelon is going to do anything, it's still just a vine, really. My bell peppers are tiny, by growing. The tomatoes are my favorite, though.
