In tourny news, Mer's team beat the evil team 1-0 this morning before being spanked by a DC team later in the morning 0-5. The beating of the evil team was less satisfying than I'd hoped because they have a new coach and the rotten cheater child from hell is no longer on the team. Still, it was a win. Yay Mer's team! I don't know WHAT happened the second game. The DC team was good, I don't mean to take anything away from their win, but it was like our girls didn't even show up. It was ugly. Mer sat out a lot of the second game because she's got a lot of fluid built up under the nail of her big toe. I'm hoping that absorbs on its own because the idea of lancing it grosses me out. She also has some swelling on the side of her foot. We need to get her new cleats.

Yesterday, Mer was supposed to hang out with her boyfriend when we got home, but when she called Edward said he wanted to be alone. She'd mentioned earlier that she thought her boyfriend's grandmother might have passed away. Edward had said last week that she was not doing well, she's had cancer for a long time, and that she'd left the hospital to spend her remaining time at home. So, today we came home and Mer took a nap because we'd had such an early start to the day. A little later she went outside to talk to her friends Phil and Robert, and she came inside in tears. Apparently Edward left for basic training today without telling her he was going. They'd talked about the fact that he planned to go into the military, but last week he made it sound as though he hadn't signed up yet. He actually made a comment that he probably wouldn't go now that he and Mer were dating, and I'd laughed and said, "You know, you've only been together a little over a week. It's a bit early to be basing life decision on your relationship." I'm sure I'll hear about THAT comment now that he's gone. He's in Indiana for the next six weeks, then he'll come home for a few days before heading off to wherever he's going to be stationed. Mer said Iraq, but I don't know if that just speculation or if it's fact. She's off being comforted by Robert and Phil now. Good old Robert. He's such a nice kid.

At least they won against the horrid team, even if the horrid people were missing ;)

I feel so bad for Mer. I know what it's like to be up and left. No goodbye or anything *still going through it, 7 months later* Poor toe too. I feel bad for you on that part.

Hope to chat with you later.

Oh, poor Mer! What a jerk. He could at least have discussed his leaving with her. That is so crushing to find out from someone else. Give her lot's of hugs from all of us in LJland!
