Anise has been wonderful and posted three KCotDT chapters in the last three days. Chapter 42 is quite disturbing, but I think is probably the most well written chapter in the story so far. There are so many twists and so much tension in this story, it keeps my stomach in knots when I read it. Some of the ideas she comes up with are amazing.
I took Meredith driving for the first time today. We went up to the high school and she drove around there for a bit. Then I let her drive home. She did pretty well. The only part that made me nervous was on the way home. The side streets in Purcellville are pretty narrow and unlined. I worried a few times that Meredith would hit someone's mailbox or run into a drainage ditch because she tended to drift too far to the right to avoid the traffic coming in the opposite direction. Not bad for a first day, though. She even parked the car reasonably well when we got home.
I also ran her around to pick up applications. Unfortunately, Purcellville is a small town and most of the businesses are little mom and pops that don't need much help, and Meredith is pretty picky about what she wants to do. She had a sort of mini-interview when she dropped an application off at a nice restaurant literally right outside our development, so it would be nice if that panned out. If it doesn't, she may have to lower her standards and go to the grocery store or one of the pizza places. We won't let her work at 7-11 or McDonald's. 7-11 for safety reasons and McDonald's because the required hours are terrible and she's going to be walking to and from work most of the time.
There was bad news for Becky yesterday. The doctor told her to stop taking her meds, her beta levels were indicating that her pregnancy was not progressing. She's to take a month off and then start the whole process over. Thank you to everyone that sent well wishes her way.

I'm so sorry about Becky. I'll keep her in my thoughts for their next try.

Thanks, they'll appreciate that.

You know, once she gets her license, she could always sign up with a temp agency and get some secretarial skills under her belt. Couldn't hurt.
