A quick update on my life.

Because I can't stand being left out of ANYTHING, I signed up to do the 20 Random Facts about HP meme for both Cho Chang and Theo Nott. You know, because I don't have enough going on with NaNoWriMo, [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange, [livejournal.com profile] dg_smutakkah, [livejournal.com profile] smut_friday, all my WIPs, and of course, real life. *headdesk*

Also, I was getting up from my very uncomfortable folding chair to go put laundry into the dryer and I caught the edge of my DVD ROM and knocked it off track. There's a reason James calls me Katezilla. He fixed it for me, but I am now sporting a six inch gash across my shin. The only thing I could find to cover it was a roll of 1" gauze, so my calf is wrapped up like an injured soldier in Gone With the Wind. At least I'm not bleeding all over the place now.

We had the cutest little trick-or-treater tonight - a little Asian boy dressed like Michael Jackson. My neighbors (the twenty-something slackers on the right side, not the twenty-something college kids on the left) were outside in costume with a table and chairs waiting for kids because their doorbell is broken (and it's just more fun that way), and they had this kid showing off all his MJ moves. This kid, who was maybe 11 or so, did the moves from the ENTIRE Thriller video. It was freakin' hysterical! He got LOTS of candy. We were all totally impressed.

The slacker kids are so much more fun than the college kids. Even though they have sex with the windows open for anyone to hear, they don't steal our parking places, they had a great time talking with all the kids, they always say hello. The college kids didn't even hand out candy. Cheapo sticks-in-the-mud.

Upon reflection, this was not such a quick update. Now I really have to get to bed. Night!

He was REALLY cute. Had us laughing for 10 minutes.

The slacker kids are awesome. Very friendly and fun.

Katie-bugs got hurted? Shall I kiss it and make it all better? I'm really good at it, I promise, I have a license in home remedies!

That little boyo sounds adorable! Kids with spunk...gotta love 'em!

KATE! Stop with all the signups! It's not good for your health, OR your sleeping habits! Silly gal! BTW, happy first day of NaNoing!

NaNoing makes me think of Mork & Mindy. (Na noo na noo) That, however, makes me feel old because it just occurred to me that Mork & Mindy is before your time. Yikes.

I feel much better now. Thank you for the mommy-type kisses!

I do need to quit signing up for things. And reading and playing Sims 2 until 2 a.m. I just generally need to start sleeping again. Sleep is good.

*hugs*

Aww! That kid sounds adorable!!! You didn't tape record him?! I would have given him all of my money.

Hey! College kids aren't cheapo's. We don't have enough money to be called cheap'os. ;{

He was adorable. I have a video camera somewhere, but it hasn't been charged in years, so no, I didn't tape him. Actually, it just occurred to me that my camera can take short videos. Darn, I missed it.

You are not a cheapo, but these kids could afford a couple bags of candy. There are like 6 (maybe more) of them sharing the townhouse and they seem to have plenty to get by on. I wonder, actually, if they have religious objections to Halloween. They go to Patrick Henry College, which is an uber-Christian school primarily geared for very right-wing, formerly home-schooled students. It's a tiny little school, only a few hundred students. I'm actually pretty fond of the school, just not my neighbors.

I don't know, I am Catholic and we don't have anything against Halloween-- we just have All Saints Day the next day- and it is a holy day of obligation.

Which I hate- you shouldn't be obligated. You should want to go. Making people won't do anything.

From: [identity profile] mugglechump.livejournal.com

There are some fundamentalist Christian denominations that view Halloween as a satanic festival. *shrugs* I'm not sure if that was the reason or if they just didn't want to hand out candy.

I'm not Catholic, but I attend a Catholic church. (James and Mer are Catholic.) We're not very good about getting there on obligated days or regular Sundays.

They have mass at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Somehow, I manage to miss them all.

Me too, Saturday I am too wrapped up in something- and I never wake up that early if I can do it-- we don't have a 6PM mass. I wish we did!

That's our 'teen' mass, although anyone can go. Youth group is at 7:30, so it's easy for them to show up a bit early, go to mass and then straight to youth group.

I really want to be a youth group leader-- I need to get back into my church.
