mugglechump: (Hermione I love books)

First, since I'm a total follower and everyone else is doing it:

The Instructions
Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Kate's List

1. D/G Fic. Always welcome. Never goes out of style.

2. Linens. In particular - cute flannel sheets, or if I have a sugar daddy on the flist I wasn't aware of, really nice, high thread count sheets. Queen size.

3. Gift cards to Avenue, Kohl's, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Borders, Books-A-Million.

4. Chocolate. Yes, I'm a cliche. Cookies are always welcome, too.

5. A new couch.

6. Send a letter of support to a serviceman (or servicewoman). I'll add a link here tomorrow.

7. Buy something from Becky & Manny's webstore. With twins on the way, every little bit helps and the candles are very good, too. Aunt Becky's Candle Shoppe

8. I'm totally copying [livejournal.com profile] mynuet here, but fanart. I've never had any kind of fanart done for a story and I would just about die from excitement if I got some.

9. DVDs. Disney animated: The Lion King, Robin Hood, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast. Live action: Swiss Family Robinson, Pollyanna, The Parent Trap (original), A Room With A View, Anne of Green Gables (with Megan Follows), Anne of Green Gables the Sequel.

10. Sign up on igive and support charitable causes while doing you online shopping.

I realized this evening that I forgot to drop off my rent check today. That little bit of airheadedness will cost me an extra $160. Stupid late fees.

This morning James & I were being goofy and playing around with the idea of a White Collar Comedy Show. We decided there could be Larry the Vice President, whose catch phrase would be 'Get it accomplished!' and Jeffrey Foxworthington, who would have bits like this:

If your office restroom requires a key, you might be an executive.

and

If your stock options are older than your mistress, you might be an executive.

Hmm... Well, it was really funny this morning.
