I found out last night that Rob's filed his taxes and I'll be seeing around $750 from him in the near future. Woohoo! Timing is everything, and (weird as it may sound) I fully credit God for getting me out of tight monetary situations. It's happened a lot over the years - money just appears when I really need it. It's reliable enough that I think it has to be divinely inspired. God rocks. Rob's not a bad guy either. ;P

For the benefit of my more recent flisters, I should clarify that Rob is my daughter's father. I don't call him my ex because then people assume we were married. I was 17 and Rob was 20 when we had Mer, and any marriage between us would've been ill-advised and short-lived. We are still friends, though. It took Rob a long time to grow up, and as a result he owes me about $16K in back child support - hence the joy over $750 coming my way. /backstory

*checks clock* Crud. I have a meeting in two minutes. Stupid work. I suppose I ought to go now.

That sucks. I'm fortunate that Rob's support is garnished from his wages and his tax returns are automatically diverted to me. I'm also fortunate that Rob recognizes that it's his own fault he's so far in arrears and doesn't begrudge me receiving it. I'm not sure how folks that don't get along manage to deal with all this stuff.

Yes, indeedy! He does so ROCK! :D I know it has been Him that has gotten me through. Darryl owes so much, I don't even know the total count...it is up there in the 1000's, though. I don't plan on seeing it either. Wonder why it turns out this way? *sigh*

It's really crappy that Darryl won't be held to his child support order. Rob's wages are garnished now, and he prefers it that way. Keeps him honest. He told me not long ago that he and his sister calculated that Meredith will be 25 before he finishes paying off his arrears.

The dirty b****** won't keep a "regular" job. Odds and ends with his Dad keeps him from using a social security # and therefore nothing reported. Talk about low-down and dirty. I wonder about his Dad, too. o.O I just try hard not to think about it so I keep my very great blood pressure where it is and I don't have any negativity in my heart...it sure is HARD! Thank the Lord that Rob is respnsible in this way. *hugs him tight* :D

Argh! I hate the jerks that pull that crap. In Virginia they can take your license or jail you if you don't pay child support. Can they not do something like that in NC?

I've never understood exactly what relation Rob is to you. I know you're very close. Feel free to tell me to stick it if I'm being too nosy.

They can...if they can catch them. They have all of that info for him, but no one knows where he lives. He lies about everything. He stays one or two steps ahead of the law. I honestly don't know why someone would choose to live that way.

I was actually speaking of YOUR Rob! *grin* I am happy that he is having his wages garnished. My Rob is someone I dated for 9 years like a hundred years ago! :D We broke up over something that probably could have been dealt with had we been older or more mature. I do regret it. We remain the best of friends. Needless to say, his wife took some time warming up to me, mostly because Rob's family took a bit to warm up to her and to stop comparing her to me. o.O I tried reaching out to her even more, because that was rather unfair, even though they weren't doing it maliciously. She & I are like night and day. That took a bit to get used to, because I was and still am very close with the rest of his family. There is more, but maybe I will save that for a letter. ;) BTW! I have a proposition for you! I want some of that wonderful stationery you made. :O! We must talk! hehe!

Well, that just sucks. It's amazing. You'd think that someone who puts that much effort and ingenuity into avoiding child support could manage to get a decent job and take care of his responsibilities. It must be exhausting to work that hard just so you don't have to work. Seems very stupid to me.

Oh gosh! My Rob! Yes, I'm luckier than a lot of folks as far as he goes. When we were really young and immature (and still dating off and on) we had plenty of fights, but now we get along fine and the child support stuff is just business we have to deal with. I don't try to make trouble for him, and he does his best to keep up with his obligations. It could certainly be a lot worse.

I had NO idea Rob was an old flame of yours. That's intriguing. It really says something about both of you that you are still able to be so close. I understand about the issues his wife had, though. My Rob has a terrible time finding women who can deal with our friendship. One of his girlfriends even tried to tell him he should give up his rights to Mer! She didn't last long, obviously. Women are strange creatures.

I'll be happy to make up some stationery for you. Just let me know what you want on it and how many you'd like. It doesn't take long to print them.
