It's 3 a.m. and I just got home. We left for Mer's game at 7:40 or so because we needed to stop and pick her up some Propel (she just won't drink plain water, I've tried). The game was at 9:00. Our team got butchered. Seriously, it was horrible. Mercy rules came into play. Just bad, all around. One of our players threw up. Mer got a serious case of vertigo and passed out briefly (not actually on the field). I had to help her to the car because she was so dizzy and her vision was blurry. We went to the ER where she had:

- 2 chest x-rays
- EKG
- CAT scan of her chest with IV contrast
- Blood work
- Urine test
- 2 bags of IV fluids
- Blood pressure taken laying down, after sitting upright for 5 minutes, and after standing for 5 minutes

They thought about keeping her overnight, but decided she could go home. She can't participate in the bowling tournament in Richmond tomorrow, though, because they don't want her doing anything physical until we see a cardiologist on Monday. (This means her teammates, who she doesn't have contact information for, won't get to play because they won't have a full team.)

As dramatic as all this sounds, more than likely she just overexerted herself and was dehydrated and hadn't eaten enough. She was pretty out of it, though, so we needed to get her checked out.

Just as an aside, my daughter knows people everywhere we go. Her dad is the same way. They just know people. Everywhere. Mer even ran into someone she knew at an amusement park in Florida. Tonight was no exception. The boy 3 rooms down from Mer in the ER was a kid she went to middle school with and had kept in touch with. Mer's dad (he came out to the hospital) knew the kid's mom. So, Rob meandered between the two rooms chatting, and Mer had to stop and see Gregory (the seriously cute boy - all 6'5" of him) before we left.

Anyhoo, I'm tired. It's now nearly 3:30. I think I'll go to bed.

So, I wasn't as slothlike this weekend as I was the last. I didn't get a lot of things accomplished, but I've:

- Done loads of laundry.
- Hand washed the mountain of hand washables that had stacked up.
- Folded the mountain of clothes that was on my bed. (Have not gotten to the Everest sized pile on the living room chair, though.)
- Changed my sheets. (Put on my new 630 tc Egyptian cotton ones. Love! They were my Christmas present to myself.)
- Did the dishes.
- Realized there was a leak under my sink and cleaned out under there. I think it must be from the line that empties the dishwasher water because I don't see anything leaking while I use the sink. Will have to hand wash stuff until maintenance gets to me. Not a bit deal, since there are only two of us dirtying dishes.
- Moved the hermit crabs away from the window because it's too cold over there. Gave them fresh drinking water and salt water.
- Did a fun scene with Snape. Susan really has no idea how to handle that man. :D
- Took a couple naps. Always nice.

All Rob's co-workers wanted to meet Mer, so rather than taking a date to his office Christmas party, he escorted his daughter. She got dressed up and Tracey did her hair. It was kind of sweet. Although, it was good Rob had her as a designated driver. He called me, obviously beyond tipsy, around 11:30 last night, while Mer was trying to drive through Washington DC for the first time. Thank God Rob has GPS. They'd never have gotten out of there otherwise.

I considered going shopping today. That would've required getting out of my pajamas, though, so it didn't happen.

Since Mer wasn't home last night (still isn't home, actually), Lucky decided to cuddle with me at about 3:00 in the morning. He's an annoyingly persistent little bugger, but it's hard to get mad at him when he's being so lovey. Jinx was not a cuddler, although he loved to be petted. Mia likes attention on her terms. Lucky will be on your lap if you're still for more than two seconds. He purrs really loudly, and just generally likes to be snuggled. You can't help but to oblige him.

The only real negative about today is that I've had a dull headache since I woke up this morning. It's not super painful, but really annoying.
I finally posted the answers to the lyric meme. Twelve of the fifty were not answered, and most of those were not mainstream, so it was a good result. If you are interested in the titles you didn't guess, you can see them here: http://mugglechump.livejournal.com/114207.html

I can't be bothered to make that link pretty. I'm tired.

I found out last night that Rob's filed his taxes and I'll be seeing around $750 from him in the near future. Woohoo! Timing is everything, and (weird as it may sound) I fully credit God for getting me out of tight monetary situations. It's happened a lot over the years - money just appears when I really need it. It's reliable enough that I think it has to be divinely inspired. God rocks. Rob's not a bad guy either. ;P

For the benefit of my more recent flisters, I should clarify that Rob is my daughter's father. I don't call him my ex because then people assume we were married. I was 17 and Rob was 20 when we had Mer, and any marriage between us would've been ill-advised and short-lived. We are still friends, though. It took Rob a long time to grow up, and as a result he owes me about $16K in back child support - hence the joy over $750 coming my way. /backstory

*checks clock* Crud. I have a meeting in two minutes. Stupid work. I suppose I ought to go now.

/rambly, dull post
This morning I was very late to work. Meredith missed the bus again, so I drove her to school. She's been doing that a lot lately and it's getting on my last nerve. Who misses an 8:15 bus? When I was in high school, my bus came at 6:50. Her's a clue, child - Get up before 7:30 and you might make it on time! Then I drove to work, only to realize that I had left my laptop at home. *headdesk* Had I a PKI card, I would have just worked from home, but I haven't ordered one yet and my old VPN doesn't work, so I had to come back to the office. (The PKI card and VPN are the two possible ways to access my office server from home.) I finally got back in around 11:30. I should probably order the PKI card. Add that to the to-do list for today.

I realized today that I forgot to mention that I got a Christmas card from [livejournal.com profile] ccnancke recently. I'm not sure how I let that slip by without mention, but I've corrected it now. Yay for mail from Christina! I love international mail. (Not to be confused with International Male, which is fun to look at, but for different reasons.)

I also got a Christmas card from [livejournal.com profile] twinkly this weekend! Not international, but all the way from Hawaii! And it had a sketch of Ginny, which made me squee because [livejournal.com profile] twinkly makes such pretty pictures.

[livejournal.com profile] blackholly has posted an exerpt from Ironside, the sequel to Tithe, and is having a competition for advance copies of the book. If you're a Holly Black fan, check it out! For me, the exerpt reaffirmed the fact that Roiben is the fairy I'd most like to hook up with. (Maybe I'm just partial to pale fellows with sharp features and silvery hair.)

I'm looking at new cell phone plans, since James and I will need separate accounts at some point anyway. I need to get something with a huge amount of texting included, so that Meredith can have a phone and I won't be surprised by $250 in text charges. She really does need to have one, though, now that she's running around all the time. She wants a pink Razor phone for Christmas. I don't know about that, but maybe a less fancy cell phone. We'll see how much they cost.

When I picked Mer up from her dad's yesterday she informed me that Rob was no longer dating the most recent girlfriend because she has herpes, but that he'd been tested and was okay. Two things went through my mind at this piece of information. First, why on Earth would Rob (or his family, I'm not sure who spilled the beans) feel the need to share this sort of news with his daughter? Ick. That's firmly on the list of Things Meredith Does Not Need to Know About Her Dad. Second, Rob has the worst luck with dating of anyone I've ever known. Last fall it was Stalker!Girlfriend, this year it's Valtrex!Woman. Dude should become a monk or something. Dating clearly is not his forte.
