Ugh.

WHINING:

So. I woke up this morning to discover that I've caught Meredith's pink eye. *sigh* This was quickly followed by the realization that I'd sent the eye drops from the last time I had pink eye to NC with Meredith. Probability of drops not returning with her tomorrow: Pretty high.

Tomorrow is the one day out of the fiscal month that I have to go to work. Ergo, cannot go to the doctor until Tuesday if the drops are not returned to me.

Was supposed to see Iron Man today with my mom. Canceled due to allergies and pink eye. Mom was disappointed.

Mom asked if Mer and I want to go away for the long weekend to Cherokee/Asheville/Bryson City (where my great-grandfather was born). Mer's aunt is recently engaged and the engagement party is next weekend. We've both said we'd be there. Mom was disappointed. Told her I'll talk to Mer and see if I can convince her to miss the party. This is unlikely, as we're talking about Mer's favorite aunt, who is much more fun than her mom, grandmother, and uncle with Down Syndrome on a days long trip to the country. Could leave her behind with her dad for the weekend, but Mom would be disappointed. Do we sense a theme here? Could force her to go, but will then have a grumpy teenager spoiling everyone's good time and annoying me with her constant text messaging.

On the plus side, I tagged in on five scenes this morning and then went back to bed for two hours. Have I mentioned that I love Married!Romy/Oliver? I do. They're sickening. It's fun to have a blissfully happy character. And hello? Smuts like whoa. And, of course, Erin is teh awesome, even in Tokyo.

I need to eat. And shower. And clean. And GROCERY SHOP - NO FOOD! And hopefully scene some more. Nap again? Maybe.

Aaww, I'm sorry about your pink-eye, hon. Bummer. Can you call Mer and make sure she has packed the drops? Teenagers are such chickens! *g*

Ooooohh! Asheville! Home! I do understand about the dilemma, though. You probably have it right on mark as to how Mer will act. *sigh* But letting her go and be with Dad would be a happier situation, even though Gran will be disappointed. At least Gran won't sulk and text message and drive you nuts! ;)

Warm washcloth on your eye.
And if you need to get it warm again -- change washcloths. The infection is already on that one. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR OTHER EYE! Get a new pillowcase. Possibly sheets, depending on how you sleep. Just when you think you are healing from it, it will come back.

Can't you buy drops off the shelf? We can here, and we use those rather than going straight to the doctor (it's almost impossible to get an appointment when you need one).

You can get regular eye drops for redness, and antihistamine eye drops for allergies, but not antibiotic eye drops like you need for pink eye.

I can usually get to the doctor in a day or two. It's dentists and gynecologists that you have to schedule way ahead of time.

I'd take your pink eye to an urgent care place. You don't want to wait a few days; by that time it may turn into an icky sticky mess in both eyes.

As for Mer, I'd suggest letting her stay with her dad and go to her aunt's party, and just tell your mom that it's unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Take everybody's greater good in your mind, and you'll feel better. Nobody, from you to your mom to your brother would want a grouchy teenager along. Your mom may not see the sense in it now, but she certainly would understand, should she be unfortunate enough to have to put up with said grouchy teenager in a car for that many hours.

And the trip sounds like one that you could really enjoy. Well, it sounds like one I'd enjoy, anyway. My opinion, for what it's worth!
