Right now, at this very moment, I am aching to play Sims 2. It's silly. Sims 2 is just a game. I went for a week without playing not long ago, with no withdrawl at all. Why is it calling to me now?

I won't have time to play it until late tonight, and I shouldn't play it then because I have a bad tendency to stay up VERY late when I start playing near bedtime. I can't sleep in tomorrow because I'm carpooling with Becky. Today, though, I have to leave work at 4:00 to go home and take Mer to soccer try-outs (although the coach has already invited her back on the team). Then we have to figure out what to do for dinner and do a little celebrating of James' birthday. Then I figure James will probably play on the computer, and, since it is his birthday, I should probably not try to weedle him into letting me play. So, I won't get a chance until James goes to bed. *wibbles, despite knowing how stupid it is to do so over a video game*

Not to mention, I only have ten days to complete my story for Pud's challenge, and I'm not even close to being done. So much for all that planning I did, it doesn't help when I procrastinate. *berates self for lack of dedication to task*

Argh.

At least I found my earbuds for my iPod. Meredith took them because her headphones died. *grumbles*
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

In other news, I'm convinced that there is a cosmic force that makes the coffee machine run out of something whenever I get near it. Also, I brought my iPod to work, but I left the ear buds at home. *sigh*

Did I mention that we got a letter from the Honolulu police? They recovered Meredith's purse. It is probably without the cash she was carrying, but a nice surprise all the same. I just have to contact them so they'll send it to us.
This morning I finished reading 'Valiant', by Holly Black. I got both her books (the other is called 'Tithe') for Christmas and I've enjoyed them quite a lot. They are urban fantasy novels, technically categorized for young adults but they could appeal to anyone that likes a good story with action and angst and romance. The sequel to 'Tithe', 'Ironside', comes out next year. I'm looking forward to it, I absolutely LOVE Roiben, the new Unseelie King. *sigh*

Other books I've read (or re-read) recently:
'Lamb - The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal' by Christopher Moore
'Pride & Prejudice' by Jane Austen
'Emma' by Jane Austen
'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte

I think there have been a few others but I can't think of them at the moment. 'Lamb' was very funny and a bit irreverant but I believe God has a sense of humor and would not be offended at all by a book like this one. Besides, who can pass up a book that includes a young messiah attempting to circumsize a statue? That's good stuff.

The others I read during a period where I couldn't seem to get enough romance. I actually ran out after finishing 'P&P', determined to buy the mini-series with Colin Firth (yum!). At the first store I went in, the moron behind the counter said, "I think you mean 'Bride & Prejudice'." I may have actually turned purple with rage while explaining as calmly as I could that, no, I was looking for the BBC mini-series based on the classic novel 'Pride & Prejudice' that starred Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. He eventually determined that they did carry it, but he couldn't find it (no big surprise) and I had to search elsewhere. Every once in awhile I am seized with the need to do something or get something RIGHT NOW. That was the case when I went out to buy the 'P&P' DVD. Mr. Customer-Service-Moron is lucky he escaped alive.

A good chunk of my day today has been spent adding songs to the iPod my husband gave me for Christmas. I like it very much, as does Meredith, who is already pushing me to add her music to it so that she can listen to it while I'm chauffuering (sp?) her around. I probably will, there's plenty of space for some of her songs. Most of my CDs are on it now and I'm starting to peruse the iTunes store and some other MP3 repositories. I have been unable to find an MP3 of 'Make a Circuit With Me' by the Polecats though, and it is very frustrating.
